Holy Trinity Parish Ezeagbogu Marks Feast Day, Celebrates Parish Priest’s Birthday in Dual Celebration

There was a fine convergence of communal joy and personal thanksgiving on Sunday, May 31, 2026, as the faithful of Holy Trinity Parish, Ezeagbogu, Ezinihitte Mbaise, marked their feast day alongside the birthday celebration of their Parish Priest, Very Rev. Fr. Lawrence Opara.

The celebration, better described as a moment of double joy, began on Saturday, 30 May 2026, with a Mass wedding in which ten couples received the Sacrament of Matrimony. The ceremony, organized under the pastoral direction of the parish priest and his collaborators, formed the opening phase of the weekend’s events.

The solemn climax came on Sunday with the Eucharistic celebration presided over by Fr. Lawrence Opara and concelebrated by Rev. Fr. Reginald Nwigwe, Assistant Parish Priest.

In his homily, Fr. Nwigwe explained that the mystery of the Holy Trinity reveals one God in three distinct Persons, equal in dignity and united in one divine nature, and that while the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit are personally distinct, they act inseparably in the work of salvation. He noted that this communion of divine life, marked by perfect unity and love, becomes the model for Christian living.

He further reminded the faithful that a parish bearing the name of the Holy Trinity is expected to reflect that identity in practice, particularly through unity, forgiveness, and mutual care. He cautioned against gossip and division, urging parishioners instead to demonstrate practical charity by supporting the sick, visiting the lonely, and strengthening bonds within families and the wider community.

In his remarks, Fr. Opara expressed gratitude to the faithful for their participation in the celebrations and commended the efforts of those who organised the events. He encouraged the congregation to continue to mirror the life of the Trinity in their communal and personal witness.

The liturgical celebration was followed by a range of social and cultural activities, including a love feast, traditional dance performances, and a football match between Ezeagbogu Zone A and Zone B, representing the five villages that constitute the community.

The occasion was further graced by the presence of the bishop, the Vicar General, some other diocesan officials as well as Religious Sisters, who joined in celebrating with Fr. Opara, who also serves as President of the Ahiara Diocesan Priests Association. The presence of other clerics like Rev. and Mrs. Emeruwa Anyanwu added to the delight.

The combined celebration concluded with an air of gratitude, unity, and renewed commitment to the spiritual message of the Holy Trinity within the parish community.
