Ahiara Diocese pays Condolence Visit to the Family of Fr. Uwadoka

On Monday, April 20, 2026, as part of the preparations for the funeral of Rev. Fr. Dr. Ethelbert Anayo Uwadoka, the Vicar General, Very Rev. Fr Godson Okoro, on behalf of the Bishop, led representatives of the diocesan clergy, together with members of the religious and lay faithful from the parishes and institutions where Fr. Uwadoka had faithfully worked while alive, on a solemn condolence visit to his family.

Addressing the family during the condolence visit, the Vicar General, Fr Okoro, thanked them for the precious gift of Fr Uwadoka to the Church and to humanity at large. He extolled the late priest’s dedicated years of priestly service, his commitment to pastoral care, academic excellence, and his contributions to the growth of the diocese. Fr Okoro described him as one of the outstanding priests of the diocese. He further prayed earnestly for his happy repose and for God’s abiding solace upon all who mourn his demise. The traditional ruler of the Aguneze community, HRH Eze Cosmas Onyejiji, welcomed all who came; he also prayed for the peaceful repose of Fr. Ethelbert Uwadoka. On behalf of the family, Mr. Peter Uwadoka, while welcoming all who came, pleaded for their continual prayers for the family, especially at this moment of grief.

The condolence visit concluded with prayers, hymns, and words of comfort, reminding all that though Fr. Uwadoka has departed this world, his legacy of faith and scholarship continues to live on in the hearts of many.

May the soul of Fr. Ethelbert Uwadoka and the souls of the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace. Amen
