The Ahiara Diocesan Mary League Association successfully held its 3rd Bi-Annual Seminar from Thursday, August 6, to Sunday, August 9, 2026, at the Handmaids Holy Child Juniorate, Amumara.
Centered on the theme “The Virtues of Mary: Humility, Purity, and Courage” (Lk. 1:46-49), the four-day spiritual and educational gathering opened with a warm welcome address by the Diocesan President, Joan Amara, who charged participants to prepare their hearts for spiritual renewal and growth.
The seminar featured a rich array of devotional and practical activities, including a solemn Rosary procession and a Holy Hour of Eucharistic Adoration. Key intellectual and formation sessions included:
Virtues of the Blessed Virgin Mary: Delivered by Diocesan Chaplain, Rev. Fr. Sixtus Ohanaja, focusing on Marian spirituality.
Health and Hygiene: Facilitated by Sr. Elizabeth Nkeonyemesi, emphasizing wellness and personal care.
The Girl Child: Presented by Sr. Chilagorom Isiguzoro, highlighting dignity and self-worth.
There was equally a practical training led by President Joan Amara to empower the young members.
The event climaxed on Sunday, August 9, with a Holy Mass of Thanksgiving presided over by Rev. Fr. Sixtus Ohanaja.
In his homily, Fr. Ohanaja exhorted the young girls to actively emulate the Blessed Virgin Mary by living lives grounded in humility, preserving their moral purity in a challenging modern world, and standing with courageous faith in the face of life’s trials.
Delivering the vote of thanks, President Joan Amara expressed profound gratitude to Almighty God for a successful event. She extended appreciation to Fr. Ohanaja for his pastoral guidance, the Principal of Handmaids Holy Child Juniorate, Sr. Claris Orji, for providing accommodation, and all the Mary League members for their active participation, urging them to put everything learned into practice.
The seminar ended on a high note, leaving participants spiritually recharged and equipped to shine as true ambassadors of Our Lady in their various parishes and communities.
