JDPC Ahiara Revisits Nnahiara Comprehensive Secondary School for GBV Awareness Impact Evaluation

Following a capacity training by the Lux Terra Leadership Foundation, Abuja, Mater JDPC had, on Thursday, July 17, 2025, visited the Nnahiara Comprehensive Secondary School, Obodo Ahiara, for a step-down awareness exercise on the elimination of gender-based violence in society. It was a robust engagement that involved the students and staff of the institution, as well as a pledge afterwards, by students and staff, to be ambassadors of this cause.

On May 20, 2026, Mater JDPC Ahiara, led by its director, Rev. Fr. Peter Claver Ohaeri, went back to the same institution to assess the level of impact their earlier engagement had yielded. It was really encouraging to see that such engagement was bearing fruit, as the students relayed their take-home from the stepdown programme and how they have been able to effect behavioral changes in their school and homes.

Furthermore, the Mater JDPC awarded some cash tokens to students who excelled in academics from each class and encouraged the school Administration with some palliative tokens.

Mater JDPC Ahiara/Lux Terra Leadership Foundation would continue to collaborate with the institution and other sister agencies in strengthening active participation and enhancing measurable results on the awareness and elimination of all forms of gender-based violence in and around her spaces of influence.
