Holy Trinity Parish Ogbe Marks 2026 Feast Day Celebration

By Johnpaul Ibe

On Sunday, May 31, 2026, the faithful of Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Ogbe Ahiara, gathered in large numbers to mark the Solemnity of the Most Holy Trinity, their parish feast day, in a celebration that combined deep gratitude with a sense of communal unity.

The Holy Mass was presided over by the Vicar General of Ahiara Diocese, Very Rev. Fr. Godson Okoro, with the Parish Priest and Dean of St Cyril’s Deanery, Rev. Fr. Chamberline Irozuru, and other priests concelebrating.

In his homily, Fr. Okoro began with an invocation of the Holy Spirit, drawing the faithful into a reflective disposition before situating the mystery of the Trinity at the center of Christian belief. He described the Holy Trinity as a reality beyond human comprehension, yet one that reveals, in its inner life, the perfect communion of love, cooperation, and unity.

He emphasized that these divine attributes are not abstract theological concepts but practical imperatives for Christian living, urging the faithful to embody unity, love, kindness, and peace in their relationships. He cautioned against division, hatred, and acts that fracture Christian communion, noting that believers are called to reflect the very nature of the God they profess.

Fr. Okoro further recalled that the early Christians were first identified as such in Antioch, a community marked by shared life and witness. He reminded the congregation that God’s response to human sin is not condemnation but love, expressed definitively in the sending of His Son for the salvation of humanity. He noted, however, that human freedom remains decisive, as each person must choose between life rooted in God or paths that lead away from Him.

Concluding, the Vicar General encouraged the faithful of Ogbe to remain consistent witnesses of peace, charity, and unity, noting that such virtues mirror the identity of the Holy Trinity, whose name the parish bears. He expressed gratitude for their commitment and prayed for continued divine guidance.

Rev. Fr. Chamberline Irozuru, Parish Priest, thanked the Vicar General, visiting clergy, religious, and all the faithful who participated in the celebration.

A key highlight of the events was the presentation of the Holy Trinity Exceptional Contribution Award andEzi Enyi Award to individuals recognized for their contributions to the growth and development of the parish.

The celebration continued after Mass with a series of community activities within the parish premises. These included an opening prayer by Rev. Fr. Vitus Tochi Umeyor and the blessing of kolanuts by Very Rev. Fr. Martin Elekwachi. Cultural performances featured prominently, with dance presentations by children’s groups, the Catholic Women Organization (CWO), and the Umuoma Youth Dance Group, Ogbe. Age grades and guests participated in kola nut ceremonies, adding traditional color to the occasion.

A football match between the Ihemba Age Grade and Chinaetugo Age Grade provided one of the day’s most engaging moments, drawing lively attention from participants and spectators.

The Parish Priest, Fr. Irozuru, in concluding remarks, expressed appreciation to all who traveled from near and far to participate in the celebration, commending organizers and performers alike. He prayed for God’s guidance and journey mercies as the faithful returned to their various destinations.

It is hoped that the spirit of unity, joy, and shared faith experienced during the feast would not remain confined to the day’s celebration but would continue to shape the life of the parish in the weeks and months ahead.
