Family members, friends, and parishioners gathered on Friday, February 13, 2026, at St. Charles Catholic Parish, Ezuhu Na Amadi, to bid farewell to Okenze Noble Sir Major Christopher Nnawugwu Njoku.

The funeral Mass was presided over by the Bishop of Ahiara Diocese, Most Rev. Dr. Simeon Okezuo Nwobi, CMF, alongside several priests.

In his homily, Rev. Fr. Patrick Enyioko, Parish Priest of Holy Ghost Parish, Umuevu Okirika-Nweke Ekwerazu, reflected on the inevitability of death and the importance of living a life of holiness.

He described the deceased as one who “arrived, lived the faith, and has gone to be with the Creator.” Emphasizing that what matters is not the length of life but its quality, he urged the faithful to follow Christ, “the way, the truth, and the life.”

Addressing the family, he encouraged them to uphold the legacies of progress, peace, love, and faith left behind by their father.

“Let the wonderful legacies of your late father continue to shine brightly in your family,” he said.

Mr. Chukwuma Njoku, the deceased’s son, on behalf of the family, welcomed the Bishop and all who came to join them as they bid a final farewell to their dad. He equally thanked and appreciated their efforts. He highlighted the impactful and exemplary life his late father lived, recounting the many good qualities they learned from him. Mr. Njoku went on to say that the earthly time they spent with him was quite meaningful and a foretaste of the heavenly bliss that would be the reward of the righteous.

The final commendation was led by Very Rev. Fr. Prof. Jude Uwalaka. Interment followed, with a reception thereafter.
