It was a moment of solemn reflection and heartfelt tribute as family, friends, and well-wishers gathered on Friday, February 13, 2026, to bid a final farewell to Ezinne Anasthesia Ulumma Ohaegbuchi. She was laid to rest amid prayers and eulogies celebrating her life of faith and virtue.

The funeral Mass took place at St. John the Apostle Parish, Umuokwuru, Ihitte, Ezinihitte Mbaise. The Eucharistic celebration was presided over by the Vicar General of Ahiara Diocese, Very Rev. Fr. Godson Okoro, who represented the Bishop of the Diocese. He was joined by a large number of priests who concelebrated.

In his homily, Rev. Fr. Dr. Justin Ekennia, Parish Priest of Christ the King Parish, Okpofe, reflected on the Pauline assurance that “not all will die, but all will be transformed.” He spoke of two categories of people: those who are physically alive yet spiritually dead, and those who live eternally even after physical death.

According to him, the first category comprises individuals who live contrary to God’s commandments—alive in body but spiritually lifeless. The second, he explained, are those who, though physically deceased, continue to live because they lived in faithful obedience to God.

Fr. Ekennia affirmed that Ezinne Ohaegbuchi belonged to the latter category. He described her as a woman of deep faith—humble, simple, cheerful, generous, peaceful, and loving—whose life positively impacted many. He expressed confidence that her life of righteousness positioned her among the beneficiaries of the Beatitudes.

He urged the faithful to become “imprints and impressions of Christ” in their daily lives, radiating His light just as the deceased had done. He also encouraged them to live meaningfully so that their memory would be defined by goodness. “Endeavor to leave good legacies,” he admonished.

The homilist further commended the children of the deceased for their dedication and care toward their mother, urging others to emulate such devotion. He noted that parents, too, must invest in raising children well so they may uphold family values in later years.

The Parish Priest, Rev. Fr. Thaddeus Njoku, welcomed mourners and extended condolences to the bereaved family. On behalf of the family, Sir Colman Nnaemeka Ohaegbuchi expressed appreciation to all who came to share in their grief.

The final commendation was led by Rev. Fr. Anthony Ezekwe, Dean of St. Catherine Deanery, Ezi-West. Interment followed at the family compound, with a reception held thereafter.

May her soul rest in peace.
