Ahiara Diocese Inaugurates Board of Diocesan Healthcare Services

The Board of Ahiara Diocesan Healthcare Services was formally inaugurated on Thursday, February 5, 2027, at Holy Rosary Hospital, Ogbor Nguru, with members taking their Oath of Office.

The ceremony was presided over by the Bishop of Ahiara Diocese, Most Rev. Simeon Okezuo Nwobi, CMF.

In his welcome address, the Secretary of the Diocesan Healthcare Services, Fr. Brendan Iwunna, received the Bishop and other stakeholders present, including the Director of Diocesan Healthcare Services, Fr. Frankline Mirikwe; Fr. Pius Adiele; Dr. Achoronye; and the Hospital Matron, Sr. Therese Ann.

The event opened with prayers led by Fr. Godson Okoro, followed by a brief introduction outlining the responsibilities of the newly inaugurated board.

Addressing the board members, Bishop Nwobi commended their acceptance of service and encouraged them to strengthen healthcare delivery across diocesan institutions. He emphasized professionalism, respect for patients, and the importance of compassionate care, noting that Catholic healthcare must combine competence with human dignity. The Bishop assured the board of his continued support.

The oath-taking formally marked the commencement of the board’s mandate to oversee medical and health-related services in the diocese.

Among those present were Dr. Mbata Godwin, Consultant Physician; Fr. Anthony Abanobi, Director of Holy Rosary Farewell Home, Ogbor Nguru; Fr. Chamberline Irozuru, Dean of St. Cyril Deanery, Ahiara, and Chairman of the Priests’ Health Insurance Scheme; Fr. Chinonso Okonko; Fr. Remigius Aforole; Dr. Ikechukwu; and Fr. Anthony Onuoha, among others.

Fr. Anthony Onuoha delivered the vote of thanks, while the closing prayer was led by Fr. Chamberline Irozuru.
