Ahiara Diocesan Catechists held their annual pilgrimage meeting at the Vivian Uchechi Pilgrimage Centre, Umuelem, on Saturday, February 14, 2026. The pilgrimage began with a Rosary procession led by Rev. Sr. Mary Mildred Umeh, the Sister Directress of the association, and was followed by High Mass officiated by the Chancellor of the Diocese, Very Rev. Dr. Evaristus Mbata, assisted by Rev. Fr. Chilaka Chrysogonus, Chaplain of the Catechists’ Association. A group photograph was taken after Mass to commemorate the gathering.

Catechists from across the Diocese, though not all were present, attended in their official association uniforms, reflecting the unity and dedication of the body. During the meeting, the Chancellor distributed letters for all members to take to their parish priests, providing an opportunity for members to reconnect and fellowship since the start of the new year.

Rev. Fr. Paul Ohaeri delivered an instructive talk on the life of Vivian, emphasizing the need for the formation of the Holy Catechists Association in each parish. He explained in detail Vivian Uchechi’s exemplary holy life expressed in missionary works and distributed prayer leaflets for her intercession. Sr. Mildred, while speaking, further harped on Vivian’s striking Christian heroism and encouraged catechists to pass on this inspiring knowledge to sacramental candidates in their parishes.

In attendance were also all the officers of the association, led by the president, Mr. Augustine Njoku. The gathering concluded with refreshments, followed by a closing prayer and blessing from the chaplain. The event marked a renewed commitment to catechist formation in the Diocese.
