On Monday, December 29, 2025, the entire Catholic faithful of Stella Maris Parish, Egberemmiri, Eziudo, and Ezinihitte Mbaise gathered with joy for the blessing and opening of St. Augustine’s Church Station at Amakam, Egberemmiri, by Bishop Simeon Okezuo Nwobi.

The event started with a Holy Mass with Bishop Nwobi as the presider and other priests as concelebrants. The Bishop thanked the sponsor, Mr. Isaac Onwuka, and his family for the great gift and encouraged others to follow up on what the family has done by assisting in the maintenance and sustenance of the great edifice. The prelate further admonished the members of the new church station never to relent in supporting their parish priest.

The Parish Priest, Rev. Fr. Bede Ukaibe, thanked God for the great day. He welcomed the bishop, priests, and all present. Fr. Ukaibe acknowledged the contributions of Mr. Isaac Onwuka towards the reality of the new church building.

The sponsor, Mr. Isaac Onwuka, expressed gratitude to God, the Bishop, the parish priest, and the entire faithful of Stella Maris Parish Egberemmiri for their support and encouragement towards the building of the new church station.

While speaking with our correspondent immediately after the Mass, the sponsor stated that it is worthwhile that anyone who knows anything that can benefit the church community should not relent in doing so. He further asserted that the presence of the bishop made him glad, and it showed that he appreciated what he had done. “Seeing the bishop today, I feel more honored; I feel happier, at least for him to be around. Yes, I have welcomed what you have done,” Mr. Onwuka stated.

There was a grand reception at the church premises and entertainment by various groups.
