A solemn atmosphere enveloped the gathering on Friday, January 16, 2025, as family, friends, and well-wishers converged at Christ the King Parish, Okpofe Ezinihitte Mbaise, to bid a final farewell to Late Lolo Lady Theresa Nwandikwa Nwogu (Nee Nwogwugwu), aged 94 years, whose life was a testament to love, kindness, commitment to duties, and devotion to God.
The funeral Mass was presided over by the Bishop of the Catholic Diocese of Ahiara, Most Rev. Simeon Okezuo Nwobi CMF, and concelebrated by a great number of priests who came from far and wide to show solidarity to Rev. Fr. Dr. Sylvester Ihuoma, the son of Lolo Theresa Nwogu. Rev. Fr. Stanley Ihuoma, delivering the homily, stated that Lolo Nwogu, having partaken in the baptism of Christ, now shares in his resurrection, and the gathering was to witness to the good life led by the deceased. Fr. Ihuoma admonished the faithful to always wish good, not evil, for one another. “Wish life and not death for your neighbor,” Fr. Ihuoma stated. He went on to say that Lolo Nwogu was a woman of faith who never joked with prayers. It was through prayers that she always drew strength and sustenance for her family. “Mama lived a life of dedicated service to God and community,” the homilist added. Fr. Ihuoma lauded her children for their unity and togetherness, telling them to keep it up and always have mutual respect for others. He prayed for her peaceful repose and exhorted all to remember her in their prayers.
The parish priest of Christ the King Parish, Okpofe, Rev. Fr. Dr. Justin Ekennia, welcomed the prelate to their parish, as well as all present, and equally commiserated with the bereaved family.
Rev. Fr. Sylvester Ihuoma, on behalf of the bereaved family, welcomed and thanked all who came to join them as they bid farewell to their beloved mother and earnestly requested their constant remembrance of their mother in their prayers.
May the soul of Lolo Lady Theresa Nwandikwa Nwogu rest in peace. Amen.
