CATHOLIC DIOCESE OF AHIARA, SCHEDULE FOR 2026 CATHEDRATICUM

The 2026 Cathedraticum is here. This annual financial contribution paid by Catholic parishes to their diocesan bishop represents unity, respect, and adherence to the bishop’s authority. The word originates from the Latin “cathedra,” meaning “chair” or “throne.” It signifies the yearly support from parishes to their bishop, demonstrating esteem and backing for his episcopal seat, or cathedra, which symbolizes his authority and teaching office. The contribution aids the bishop’s administrative, pastoral, and charitable works within the diocese. This annual event provides an opportunity for the diocese to come together in support of our bishop, both as parishes and individuals. As a diocese, the event is marked across deaneries, diocesan schools, institutions, organizations/sodalities. It begins with a holy Mass where priests and parishioners gather with the bishop to offer these contributions. Funds from the Cathedraticum are utilized to uphold the bishop’s pastoral activities, aid the poor, and maintain diocesan infrastructure. Additionally, the faithful may offer food items to support the bishop’s charitable works. We encourage everyone to lend generous support to our diocese this year.
